I've been hiding HUGE news and I am about to burst!
I've been writing and rewriting this post in my head for MONTHS now. It's a miracle I've held in all of the news for this long!
If yous know me, yous know I am not a super patient human being. I dear sharing my story on the web log, and carefully hiding this news week later on calendar week has been slowly killing me inside! Thankfully, today is FINALLY the day I get to share it all with the world. I'm really not sure I could hold this all in one more day!
Okay, okay, I'm being a scrap melodramatic hither. Merely actually, I have A LOT to share, friends. Many of yous take noticed things have been a petty quieter than usual on the blog these past few months, and I'thousand so grateful to even have loyal readers who noticed! This blog has get a huge part of who I am, and non being able to share things with you has been hard. I've learned that it is actually tough for me to work on artistic projects and write blog posts when I can't share what I'm thinking, feeling and working on at that moment. Blogging really is my ain form of therapy, and I normally write virtually what's happening in the moment. So if you've noticed things beingness slower than usual around here, it's considering every time I sit downwards to write, all I want to exercise is shout my news from the rooftops!
So, what's all this large news I've been hiding? I'chiliad non fifty-fifty sure where to begin, then I guess I'll just spill information technology all out!
We are pregnant.
Nosotros are moving.
We both accept new jobs.
We closed our business.
We are starting a new affiliate.
All in all, David and I have been consumed with a lot of change these by few months. Nearly every aspect of our life is in transition. I won't pretend information technology's all been sunshine and roses. Change isn't always easy and I've experienced a tremendous amount of stress and worry every bit we've waited for everything to fall into place. I can tell y'all now that I am extremely excited for new beginnings! This quote has come to mind frequently over the by few months:
[blockquote source="Meister Eckhart"]And suddenly you lot know… it's time to showtime something new and trust the magic of new beginnings. [/blockquote]
There's no way I could peradventure tell you lot every detail in one web log mail, only I'll do my best to give you lot a quick rundown of life updates so yous're up to speed. I'm so excited to FINALLY spill the beans!!!
We are significant!
I am 25 weeks forth, and it's all seeming so much more real since we had our 20-week ultrasound. Nosotros are expecting a Baby GIRL Oct 25! That film above is from a hymeneals this past weekend. My baby bump is getting to a point where I tin't hide it anymore (although it's a scrap disguised by that flowy dress)!
I was nauseous all twenty-four hour period, every day, from week vi through week 12. The term "morning sickness" is and so misleading! As a commencement-time meaning lady, I've been learning tons! Nausea and general exhaustion is a big part of why the blog nearly slowed to a halt a few months agone! I managed to eek out a mail service most weeks, simply I was then tired and sick all the time that my day task took every ounce of energy I could muster most days.
At present that I'm past the halfway betoken (eek!), I'thousand feeling better and have more than energy. Considering nosotros've been working on firm projects like crazy in preparation for list it for auction, I'm glad I have my free energy back! Though I don't take most as much stamina for projects these days. Thankfully David has been a huge help!
Very very few people know how hard we prayed for this baby.Oh goodness, I'yard already tearing up! We struggled with infertility for about two years, and it tested every ounce of patience I had in me. Every infertility journey is unique, and ours was thankfully short in comparison to many. Simply that didn't make information technology easy. I didn't really share it with anyone while we were going through it – information technology was too difficult for me to talk virtually in the thick of things. I'one thousand really not great at opening upwardly about my feelings and tend to hold it all in. I honestly just tried non the think virtually it.
After dozens of tests and ultrasounds and a few months of fertility drugs, we were blessed with a babe during the one calendar month we took a break from our monthly routine of pills and follicle counts. It only goes to show that everything happens when it's meant to. If you are battling infertility right at present, know that my eye aches for y'all. The all-time advice I tin can offer, although I know information technology's not plenty, is to stay strong and don't lose hope. Those tears of disappointment will plow to tears of joy one day.
Nosotros are moving!
Later on growing upwards on a farm betwixt two tiny Iowa towns, living in our current town of 9,000 people has suited me perfectly. It feels plenty large to me, but it'southward all about perspective. David has ever wanted to get back to the Des Moines metro, which is where he grew upwards. We'd somewhat planned to move there in a couple years but, when nosotros realized things weren't bully with either of our jobs, we decided to take information technology as a sign it was time to make the transition.
And then although the decision to move did non exactly follow the timeline I had planned, I'm very excited! Nosotros're both looking forward to a fresh starting time and settling into a new home before our infant arrives (fingers crossed!). And I'll be honest – I'one thousand giddy with excitement nigh house hunting! Y'all all know I dearest houses, and perusing the listings has get a daily habit ;).
We've been working overtime on a laundry listing of house projects that I want to finish upward before any showings. Our firm will be listed for sale in the next few days and information technology's hard to know how long information technology will take to sell since we are in a smaller town. Nosotros're planning to commute the hr to and from our new jobs until this house sells and we tin can make the movement (thankfully we'll be able to carpool most days).
We closed our business and shifted gears.
We opened a modest retail store in our town nearly three years ago. It was a chance, but something we'd both always wanted to practise and we knew information technology would exist easier to give it a go when nosotros were young and didn't have kids or much to lose. David managed the shop total-time, which was a welcome alter from his 60 minutes-long commute to a corporate job every mean solar day. Unfortunately small town retail is tough and we couldn't detect a way to brand the concern sustainable long term. Although it was pitiful to shut our business, I do non regret taking that risk. We both learned then much as business owners, and information technology taught us a lot about working as a team.
I have been working from home every bit a marketing consultant since last autumn, simply I was really craving being part of a larger team again. When I ended my work with my largest client, we decided it was an opportunity to make some big changes and offset a new chapter. In the grade of a couple days in early on April, David and I fabricated a series of huge life decisions. Decisions to leave our current jobs, close down our concern, sell our dwelling house and movement to a new city all while while preparing to start a family.
All of that change was stressful and scary at the time. But as information technology all began to sink in and nosotros put our plans in motion, my mood rapidly turned to excitement. I was prepare for a fresh outset and new challenges. I was set to turn the page and starting time a new affiliate in our life. Nosotros both began task hunting while putting in a lot of hours to close down and clean out our store.
We are both starting new jobs!
The months of May and June were filled with job searching for both of united states of america. It's been hard to go along myself from referencing this on the blog, but our schedules accept certainly been different since nosotros airtight our business at the end of May. With both of united states of america at abode all mean solar day every mean solar day, nosotros've been splitting our time between job hunting, preparing our house to sell, liquidating our leftover store inventory online and wrapping up projects for a few marketing clients.
I've been waiting and waiting to write this mail service because I didn't want to share my pregnancy publicly while interviewing for jobs. Now that we've both accepted new positions, I can finally share! Nosotros both brainstorm new jobs side by side calendar week, David with his former corporate employer and me in marketing for a manufacturer. I'm really looking frontward to growing in my career and tackling new challenges!
A year of growth
I never did blog about it in January, but my give-and-take of the yr is GROWTH. I chose that give-and-take with a few meanings in heed. Outset and foremost, I hoped to grow our family. I also wanted to grow in my career and to grow this blog. All in all, I feel like I'm definitely living upward to my word of the yr and the twelvemonth'southward only one-half over!
I think I tin can safely say that 2022 is a year we volition never forget! Change is scary but it can event in beautiful things. I am really looking forrad to settling into a new home, new jobs and new routines equally we set up for our babe girl's inflow in Oct. We have so many adventures alee, and I am glad I tin finally spill the beans and offset sharing them with you!
If you are in a menstruum of transition correct now, know that information technology may not ever be like shooting fish in a barrel when you lot're in the thick of things, merely change can result in beautiful, magical beginnings.
So how will all of this affect the weblog?
I don't anticipate the weblog changing too much except to proceed to ameliorate. Since we've been working on all sorts of house projects lately, I have a ton of projects to share with you this summer. I program to share some posts about the firm selling and buying process and expect our future home will have plenty of decorating and organizing projects in store! I am also excited to share some babe-related posts including a few crafty things similar our gender reveal and a plant nursery makeover one time we go moved. All in all, I have no plans to veer from the usual topics of organizing, decorating and DIY.
Wow! Information technology feels so skilful to get that all off my chest. I accept had literal dreams of typing this post. Thank you and then much for following forth on our adventures and I tin can't look to share more updates as things unfold! Stay tuned!
Happy Fri!
